Bucharest, 22nd of April 2024 – As part of the overall strategy to expand the delivery infrastructure in the region, SAMEDAY announces the intention to take over Sprinter, the fast delivery courier company in Hungary. Therefore, after the potential acquisition, SAMEDAY will increase its out-of-home infrastructure in Hungary by 60%, through the 450 points of delivery owned by the Hungarian company, as well as its home delivery capacity.

Sprinter is a well-known, traditional courier service company in Hungary, with more than 25-year presence on the Hungarian CEP (courier-express-parcel) market. The company is associated with well-known brand names such as the pioneering Pick Pack Pont fixed-point pick-up network and Sprinter, with decades of experience in home delivery. It serves an important number of domestic and multinational retail and wholesale online businesses, consolidators, and it has cross-border deliveries to Romania and other countries. Until the end of 2024, the SAMEDAY out-of-home delivery network in Hungary will reach approximately 2200 easybox lockers and points of delivery, covering all big cities and regions in Hungary. The 2200 out-of-home delivery network will be activated in the coming months for the online shops that have cross-border deliveries.

The Sprinter clients will continue to benefit from the familiar, same services. Moreover, they will be able to access new services and a technology infrastructure well-adapted to eCommerce. The employees and the subcontractors will also continue their activity and will be able to gain access to more growth opportunities once the transaction is complete, being given SAMEDAY’s ambitious development plans.

The acquisition of the company brings together decades of strong local market knowledge and service culture with a dynamic growing, state-of-the-art regional CEP market technological and courier service provider to create a new competitive choice for Hungarian and multinational online retail and wholesale businesses.

“We are building a unified, without borders area of delivery that will improve the customer experience and will reduce the delivery costs for the online shops in Romania, Hungary and Bulgaria. We have an ambitious plan to reach 8500 points of delivery in the region this year and the prospect of absorbing Sprinter’s infrastructure represents an important step. We will continue to speed up the expansion through increasing the number of easyboxes and points of delivery and introducing new shop-in-shop systems. These measures will support an even faster development of online commerce in the region.”, declared Lucian Baltaru, CEO SAMEDAY Group.

In the past 12 months, SAMEDAY registered an 115% increase in the number of online shops that have accessed the cross-border delivery services, in comparison with the same period of the previous year. With a total of 95 million parcels delivered in the region in the past year, the first Romanian company that has opened operations beyond borders has been present in Hungary for the fourth year, and in Bulgaria for the second year.

Relying on the ascendent trend of the number of parcels delivered in the region, SAMEDAY Group will invest in 2024 approximately 30 million euro in the growth of the delivery capacity through the expansion of the out-of-home delivery network.

The total investment that SAMEDAY Groups has in place for 2024 is over 60 million euro that will be directed towards the expansion of the regional out-of-home network, technological developments and the optimization of capacity and speed of processing and delivery.
