Packaging tips for the safety of your parcels

Focused on doing things better together, we’re sharing some tips for successful deliveries. As you know, ensuring the safe delivery of your parcels starts with proper packaging tailored to the type of product inside. Whether you’re sending personal packages through the SAMEDAY easyway service or using postal and courier services for businesses, following the rules for packing, sealing, and labeling is essential.
Discover how to protect your parcels and ensure they reach their destination in optimal condition by packaging them correctly.

Here’s what you need to know if you choose to hand over/deliver the parcel to the easybox:

1. How to pack the parcel?

  • Packaging materials
Use boxes in good condition, ideally made of hard cardboard or durable, opaque plastic bags.
Always ensure that the packaging used is appropriate for the nature of the product, for the size of the product, and that the contents of the parcel are fully covered by the packaging.
  • Placing products in boxes or bags
Whether you choose a box or a plastic bag, make sure to place the products centrally in the packaging. If you add multiple products to the same package, separate them to avoid mutual damage.
Fill the remaining space with soft materials that absorb shocks, such as newspapers, paper or shredded cardboard, air-filled pillows, or polystyrene inserts.
  • Sealing the parcel with adhesive tape
Close and seal the parcel with adhesive tape, applied on the parcel in a cross pattern, to prevent the contents from falling out. If necessary, apply additional tape to other vulnerable areas, such as the edges and joints of the packaging.
  • Warn about the fragility of the contents by using a label clearly stating “Fragile.”
  • The parcel is ready for transport if:
    • It is properly packaged, closed, sealed, and labeled.
    • It is sturdy, compact, and homogeneous.
    • It can withstand a fall from a height of 80 cm diagonally.

2. What size parcel should I choose for pickup and delivery via the easybox service?

  • Through easybox, you can send 3 (three) types of parcels:
    • small parcel (S): 47 x 44.5 x 10 cm, ideal for sending small objects: tablets, documents, books, clothes, cosmetics, small accessories.
    • medium parcel (M): 47 x 44.5 x 19 cm, perfect for sending a pair of shoes, folded clothes, or several cosmetic products.
    • large parcel (L): 47 x 44.5 x 39 cm, recommended for bulky items such as toys, pillows, or a set of towels.

Regardless of the size of the parcel, make sure it does not exceed 20 kg.

2. What size parcel should I choose?

  • For courier pickup and delivery services, you can send 3 (three) types of parcels:
    • small parcel (S): 47 x 44.5 x 10 cm, ideal for sending small objects, weighing up to 5 kg: tablets, documents, books, clothes, cosmetics, small accessories.
    • medium parcel (M): 47 x 44.5 x 19 cm, perfect for sending a pair of shoes, folded clothes, or several cosmetic products, weighing between 5 and 10 kg.
    • large parcel (L): 47 x 44.5 x 39 cm, recommended for bulky items such as toys, pillows, or a set of towels, weighing between 10 and 20 kg.

1. How to pack the parcel depending on its nature?

  • Windshields/Windows, Glassware, Bottled Liquids, Beverages
These should be packed in wooden or compressed cardboard packaging, filled with protective material (polystyrene and bubble wrap) distributed across the entire surface of the package and individually for each glass product or component. The package should also be labeled with a tag stating “Fragile.”
  • Paintings/Engravings (which are not classified as “Objects excluded from shipment”)
These should be packed in wooden or compressed cardboard packaging, filled with protective material (polystyrene and bubble wrap) distributed across the entire surface of the package. The package should also be labeled with a tag stating “Fragile”.

  • Home Appliances
These should be packed in the original manufacturer’s packaging (which should include at least a cardboard box, PVC wrapping, and cushioning). The package should also be labeled with a tag stating “Fragile.”
  • Tires
A strip of cardboard should be applied on top and underneath each tire. These are secured with at least two plastic bands, perpendicular to each other, so that they intersect at the center of the top and bottom surfaces of each part of the tire.
  • Rims, Furniture Items (e.g., lounge chairs, chairs), Mattresses, Ironing Boards, Pet Food
These should be packed in compressed cardboard packaging, filled with protective material (polystyrene and bubble wrap) distributed across the entire surface of the package.

Note

If the product you are about to hand over is not listed in the categories mentioned above, please send it in the manufacturer’s original packaging or repackage it appropriately, based on the nature of its contents.

Additionally, please note that the chosen packaging method must ensure the parcel’s integrity in the event of a fall from 80 cm diagonally and must be able to withstand both manual and mechanical handling.

2. Atypical Products

An “atypical product” is a parcel that meets one of the following conditions: requires manual handling or has a circumference (Girth) between 270 and 300 cm, where the circumference is defined by the following formula: height + 2 x length + 2 x width.

Here are some examples of atypical products: Cement mixer, pipe, greenhouse frames, bean bag chairs, paint bucket, liquids, manual trolley, welded fence mesh, trees, shrubs, wheelbarrow, ladder, lounge chair, chip display rack, exhaust pipe, slide, garbage bins, toilet bowl.
